What is SoundofHymns?
SoundofHymns is a digital hymn player and learning platform for churches, choirs, organists, musicians and hymn lovers. Think of it as your digital organist, playing rich organ accompaniment for your hymns with settings to match how you want to sing - for worship, choir rehearsal, personal practice or learning a hymn. It works offline, so the accompaniment is there whenever you need it, with no internet connection.
Why do I need SoundofHymns?
It makes singing and learning hymns easier. Whether you are preparing for a service, learning a new hymn, rehearsing with a choir, practising your part, singing at home, or need accompaniment when no organist is available, SoundofHymns gives you the accompaniment and the learning tools, whenever you need them.
Does SoundofHymns need an internet connection?
No. The hymns are installed on the computer, and a service that is playing never asks for a connection. The internet is needed only to sign the application in to your account, to keep its licence current, and to download a new version.
Does it work without an organist?
Yes. The hymns are chosen in advance and put in the order they will be sung. On the day it is one button, and the next hymn follows the last.
Do I need to know how to play the organ?
Not at all. Churches, choirs, institutions and individuals play hymns with rich organ accompaniment without any experience of playing the organ.
Can it be used for choir rehearsal?
Absolutely. SoundofHymns is a choir rehearsal and learning tool: singers can practise the soprano, alto, tenor or bass alone, then bring the parts together to learn the harmony. You can change the key and the tempo to suit your choir.
Can I change the key or the tempo?
Yes.
Can I make a playlist?
Yes. Plan a service, a rehearsal or a special occasion: add the hymns in the order they will be sung, with notes, and set each one up as it should be played - a Christmas Day service with every hymn in its place in the order of worship, for example.
Which churches can use it?
Any church or denomination that sings traditional hymns, chorales, chants, canticles or psalms in its worship. It is made for a wide range of Christian traditions and hymnals.
Which hymnals are available?
Fifty hymns are installed with the application, on every plan. Standard and Premium add whole hymnals, which the application downloads by itself, and open any hymn you have as a MIDI file. More are being prepared: write to us with the one your church sings from.
What if a hymn or tune I need is missing?
Write to us with its details and we will consider adding it. Whether we can depends on whether the hymn and its tune are in the public domain, or on the licence they are published under.
Which computers does it run on?
macOS, Windows and Linux.
Ready when you are.
Download SoundofHymns for macOS or Windows and experience rich hymn accompaniment. It plays offline once set up.
